Ruth Munguia was born in Jalisco, Mexico and raised in Los Angeles, California where she was exposed to different cultures. These cultures had a great influence in shaping her personal values, beliefs and greatly influenced her love for the arts. Her passion for art has long lived with her since childhood. As a child, Ruth’s artwork was first created with simple sketches that fascinated the spectator. Ruth is now creating colorful works that catches the every viewer’s attention.
Ruth’s artwork includes emotional, social and dream based artwork that talk about her personal life. Ruth’s favorite medium has been charcoal, conté and oils but is currently exploring with soft pastels. Expressing herself through different types of art has always had a great influence in her life decisions. “It is not only creating art, it is communicating to others and oneself through art on how you live and view the world.”
As a Taurus, Ruth seeks security that is why she worked hard to earned a Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of La Verne. For several years, Ruth has taken art courses in Cerritos College during her private and personal time. Art is her passion in life and would like to be buried with her favorite art piece “Los Pollitos” created by her husband Roberto Munguia.
Ruth divides her time between her art, husband, family, grandmother and work.
Ruth’s life experiences, self-determination, community and family influence have positively influence her to come a long way. It is that time in her life were she is now ready to share her feelings and thoughts through her art with the world.
